Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview
A Truly Indie/Nerd TV/Furnace/John Gau Prods. presentation. Produced by Gau, Paul Sen.Executive producers, Robert X. Cringely, Ted Mundorff. Directed by Paul Sen. Written by Robert X. Cringely. With: Steve Jobs. Narrator: Robert X. Cringely.Recovered just after Steve Jobs' untimely death, the mogul's longest TV interview appears in unexpurgated form in this 69-minute docu. Appearing relaxed, confident and expansive, Jobs is seen in a single fixed-camera shot in a Redwood City TV studio in 1995, reflecting on his personal interest in the computer, the birth of Apple, his bitter clash with Apple CEO John Sculley, and his then-latest venture, Next. Landmark Theaters' limited nationwide release is perfectly timed to the global fascination with Jobs, whose fans will hang on every word. Jobs enlisted as an interview subject for the tube series "Triumph of the Nerds," hosted by writer-interviewer Robert X. Cringely, who explains the context of the conversation in a brief prelude. Excerpts were included in the aired show, but the complete interview was thought to have been lost in transit in the late '90s. According to Cringely, the show's director, Paul Sen, recently found the tape containing the 67-minute interview; for the purposes of narrative flow in this theatrical presentation, the frame often freezes while Cringely's oddly echo-y voiceover narration sets up the theme of the following segment. At 40, and with an outlook of observing Apple from afar (he had been booted out of the company by Sculley a decade prior and had subsequently founded Next), Jobs is able to bring a perspective he couldn't have provided at a younger age. Moreover, this p.o.v. wouldn't have been possible soon after the interview, since Jobs sold Next to Apple six months later and became Apple CEO a year after that. Thus, he's able to say here that "Apple is dying," and explain why: While the Macintosh computer, which he fundamentally created, had once been 10 years ahead of the PC and other competition, that advantage had dissolved over time because "the understanding of how to create new products evaporated," and Apple's wasted R&D money was severely draining corporate coffers.
This observation bears considerable urgency for Apple's future condition in the here and now. The docu having shown that a Jobs-less Apple could fall behind and lose its creative momentum, an obvious question is certain to linger in viewers' minds. With visible excitement and pleased nostalgia, Jobs recalls his sighting of the world's first personal computer at Hewlett-Packard's HQ in then-nascent Silicon Valley, and how he and tech buddy Steve Wozniak devised the "Blue Box," which allowed callers to make long-distance phone calls for free. The pair's creation of the first Apple computer is a well-known tale, but will prove a thrilling entrepreneurial story for younger viewers. As anyone who ever heard him speak knows, Jobs was exceptionally articulate and focused in his responses to questions, while generally framing them in a personal context. This is exemplified by his summary of the making of the sublime Apple II computer, the product of Wozniak's ambition to feature color graphics and Jobs' desire to produce the first packaged computer with intact hardware. He's just as direct, and blunter, in his description of how Sculley "systematically destroyed" the values of Apple. In the interview's closing section (and echoed by Walter Isaacson's new Jobs biography), Jobs stresses that Apple was fashioned from a liberal-arts perspective, in which "it all comes down to taste," something he sees constant rival Microsoft as utterly lacking. Ultimately the docu shows Jobs, as always, ahead of his time: Extremely keen on the Internet, whose social impact in 1995 was then barely being felt, the mogul correctly predicts the Web will be the "defining technology and social element" of the future.Camera (color, video), John Booth, Clayton Moore; editor, Nic Stacey; sound, Gene Koon; re-recording mixer, Greg Gettens;. EXCLUSIVE: Melissa Rosenberg has teamed with ABC and Endemol Studios for an U.S. adaptation of Endemol’s Dutch drama format Penoza. The Twilight scribe will write and executive produce the project, one of two dramas based on international Endemol formats that Endemol Studios has set up at ABC and ABC Studios, along with Spirited, which will be written by Chris Black (Desperate Housewives) and Henry Alonso Myers (Chuck). She also executive produces Afterthought, a murder mystery drama at NBC written by Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman). The Rosenberg-penned Penoza centers on a widow of an assassinated criminal who is suddenly forced to adopt her late husbands role in order to protect her family. Rosenberg, who will serve as showrunner, is executive producing with Alon Aranya (The Naked Truth) and Howard Klein. Penoza was originally created by Pieter Bart Korthuis for Endemols NL Film & TV and producer Alain de Levita. The series is now filming its second season for KRO in the Netherlands. The project, originally put in development last season, is still in consideration at the network. It is one of several projects Rosenberg is shepherding through her production company Tall Girls Prods. That includes NBC’sAfterthought, about an unconventional team within the FBI that uses the six-hour window between clinical death and cellular death to solve murders by entering the memories of the recently deceased. On the feature side, UTA-repped Rosenberg has Earthseed at Paramount, an adaptation of Pamela Sargents sci-fi novel about a group of teenagers who grow up on a spaceship headed for a new planet and have to face a mysterious foe they didnt know existed. Spirited tells the story of Suzy Darling, a recently divorced mother of two whose life is forever changed through her unexpected relationship with Henry Mallet, the ghost of an 80s English punk rock star. Chris Black and Henry Alonso Myers will write and executive produce the project based on the series created in 2009 by Claudia Karvan and Jacquelin Perske for Endemol’s Southern Star for Foxtel in Australia. It is enormously exciting that we have such rich material to bring the network from the Endemol teams in Australia and the Netherlands and we look forward to working with Melissa on Penoza, Chris and Henry on Spirited,” said Philippe Maigret, CEO of Endemol Studios. Additionally, prior to the launch of Endemol Studios, Endemol USA developed and is executive producing the AMC drama series Hell On Wheels. All 4 projects have been spearheaded by Jeremy Gold who serves as Head of Creative Affairs at Endemol Studios.

Muppets Twilight Parody Posters Online
Emo romance for Kermit, Piggy & Rowlf The run of Muppet parody trailers has officially finished now, but to accompany Breaking Prawn, here are some Twilight-y posters. We couldn't possibly imagine why they've been timed just so...This trio of Muppet Saga banners gives us Dame Piggy as Bella Swine, who is presumably given to swooning over re-readings of Muppeting Heights. We're inferring that she's also torn between romantic trysts with the vamphibian Kermit, and were-pianist Rowlf. Kermit doesn't look especially sparkly here, but Rowlf, who doesn't wear clothes anyway, is appropriately shirtless.{Muppets Twilight Parody Posters Online}We're not sure the central drama of Breaking Dawn quite translates here though, since The Muppet Christmas Carol teaches us that the pig and the frog can procreate with no trouble at all...Lucky Americans get The Muppets for Thanksgiving, but it's out in the UK in February.

The suit still looks to hold the defendant on a single ideas of secondary and vicarious liability the defendant assisted establish in the past legal actions against file-discussing technology companies. And also the suit still largely eschews any sort of identification of infringed material. David takes the chance to press his primary point again: "The actual irony within this situation is the fact that, despite its endemic inducement from the violation of litigants' tunes, accused' parent, CBS, doesn't hesitate to cast itself like a defender of intellectual property privileges with its very own financial interests. For instance, accused' parent company, CBS, routinely harasses people and small websites which publish small servings of its very own programming with 'cease and desist' letters threatening crushing lawsuit. When that doesn't work, it doesn't hesitate to file a lawsuit.Inch CBS didn't immediately react to request comment, however in a reaction to the first suit, the organization stated the claims were a "desperate attempt todistract copyright holders like us from ongoing our rightfulclaims" which the litigants wouldn't prevail. Next fall it will move to WNYW, which is likely to be a better fit and provide a more suitable home for the show, which shoots in NY at Lincoln Center's The Allen Room, overlooking Central Park. NY City is a crucial market because of its size and because it is a media center, where the program is showcased for the broadcast and advertising world. The show has done reasonably well in the ratings nationwide, scoring about a 1.4 rating in a recent week, but was not a blockbuster. However, stations have indicated they like the production values and guests, and now Warner Bros. has announced that it will be back for at least the 2012-2013 season, and possibly beyond. "This is a terrific testament to these strong stations who, like us, see 'Anderson' as the next early-fringe syndication franchise," said Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, who made the announcement Wednesday along with Rick Meril, executive vice president/general sales manager of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. "Since its launch, the series has continued to grow and find its voice in a very competitive and fragmented landscape," added Werner. "We have great faith in Anderson and with strong station partners, we believe we are well on the way to creating a valuable news lead-in." "The show is off to a good start and has the opportunity to grow organically into something unique," said Hilary Estey McLoughlin, president of Telepictures Productions (a division of Warner Bros.). "Anderson brings a distinctive point of view, a real sense of empathy and the journalistic skills to tackle and elevate the diverse range of topics that the daytime audience is interested in. As our awareness grows and the audience finds the show, the bond will only grow stronger with him over time." "I am enjoying the daytime show tremendously," said Cooper, "and am looking forward to what lies ahead." Cooper continues to do the daily talk show along with his show on CNN and other assignments. The Fox stations on which Anderson has been renewed are in Los Angeles (KTTV-TV), Chicago (WFLD-TV), and Boston (WFXT-TV). Godspell
A Ken Davenport, Hunter Arnold, Broadway Across America, Luigi Caiola, Rose Caiola, Edgar Lansbury, Mike McClernon, Tolchin Family, Guillermo Wiechers & Juan Torres the ones of Godspell presentation of the musical in 2 functions with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz created and initially directed by John-Michael Tebelak. Directed by Daniel Goldstein, choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. Music direction, Charlie Alterman. JesusHunter Parrish John/JudasWallace SmithHere comes the very first-ever Broadway revival of "Godspell," and naturally so. The 1971 Off Broadway hit loved a powerful five-year run, and gone to live in Broadway for the next year. However the feel-good "DailyInch tuner was always more Off Broadway than you are on dress up in $5 million togs also it still feels slight. Boomer nostalgia and modern-day marketing might alleviate this, but that is not the primary problem. In trying to create this anachronistic telling from the age-old gospel current, "Godspell" irritatingly straddles two eras and 2 styles. Up-to-date revisions of ancient tales happen to be amusing audiences for over a century. You can certainly take something similar to the Finest Story Ever Told and add contemporary tunes, up-to-the-minute gags, both Chicken Dance and also the Macarena, and jokes about Lindsay Lohan or about Jobs utilizing an iPad in Paradise. But this type of new musical, written today, would likely not contain tunes from the soft rock variety yesterday's cutting-edge score is much too comfortable for any 2011 protest piece. Company, there is a joke about "Occupy 50th Street." A present-day "Godspell" wouldn't have a gang you'd have met on St. Mark's Place throughout the Nixon Years, putting on hippy-ant costumes. (Jesus no more dons that Superman shirt it can make a look and feel, but is declined.) What we should reach Circle within the Square is really a show along with a sensibility which drift aimlessly between today and also the dark age range of 40 years ago. The authors, in other words whomever is in charge, appear to possess added every single gag that involves mind good, relevant or otherwise. There's a line -- or possibly basically an advertisement lib -- about how exactly hard it is to buy "Book of Mormon" tickets. This scattershot approach adds laughs but reduces what is the energy of "Godspell." Director Daniel Goldstein makes his Broadway debut, and never remarkably so. This lengthy-in-pregnancy revival came about from his 2006 staging from the show in the Paper Mill Playhouse. Around the plus side may be the score by Stephen Schwartz (here credited for "music and new lyrics"). The tunes truly are comfortable and nostalgically sweet. Schwartz ("Wicked") didn't get much respect with this show initially, but it's tuneful and effective. The brand new orchestrations by Michael Holland frequently try way too hard to modernize the score Schwartz does not require the help. Most powerful part of the affair may be the casting: This "Godspell" is particularly well sang. Being bold are Lindsay Mendez (on "Bless the The almighty" and elsewhere) and Telly Leung (on "Great Gifts"). The main one large disappointment originates from Hunter Parrish, the Jesus from the occasion. Parrish comes with an innocent smile, large blonde hair, and lots of teeth he does not seem like a Ken toy, exactly, but he sings like one. Wallace Cruz, as John/Judas, is marginally more powerful but less than the amount of the ensemble. Among the surprising vibrant spots may be the entr'acte reprise of "Learn Your Training Well," sang by Leung (at piano) with Mendez and Cruz. Yes, there's a crowd with this "Godspell," and possibly they may be arrived at. However the talents from the original happen to be so weighted lower by mirthless enhancements it creates a really lengthy two hrs.Sets, David Korins costumes, Miranda Hoffman lights, David Weiner seem, Andrew Keister orchestrations and vocal plans, Michael Holland production stage manager, David O'Brien. Irving's dream sequence within the finish was shot backwards (while using actress walking backwards and cars driving backwards gear), then carried out forward. (Years later, David Lynch used the identical disorienting approach to produce the dream sequences in 'Twin Peaks.') P Palma has mentioned the hands-thrusting-from-the-grave shot within the finish was inspired with the climax of 'Deliverance.' P Palma wanted to employ a stunt lady, but Spacek was adament on doing the shot herself. She's in a pit within board engrossed in rocks and received a sign to attain out and grab Irving's arm. 13. Nancy Allen, who carried out Carrie's chief tormentor, Chris, started dating P Palma through the shoot. They eventually married making three more films together. Nevertheless it was Irving who showed up charge in P Palma's next film, 'The Fury,' another chiller of a teenage girl with deadly telekinetic forces. 14. P Palma may also be responsible for remodeling Steven Spielberg with future wife Irving. Soles has mentioned P Palma requested the 'Jaws' director for the set because of all the cute women, that they asked for many of them out, including her, but that Irving was the only real individual who mentioned yes. 15. The means by which Irving appreciated it, however, P Palma fixed them up by delivering her to audition for Spielberg's 'Close Encounters in the Third Kind' for just about any part she was clearly too youthful for. Either in situation, they were soon living together, though they didn't got married until 1985. They'd one child together and divorced in 1989. 16. 72 hrs before 'Carrie' opened up up, the film stood a sneak preview in many theaters on Halloween. Stephen King attended a particular preview, another 1 / 2 of the unlikely double feature while using Redd Foxx comedy 'Norman, Is That You Simply?A King appreciated the large event in the amusing story he told Whoopi Goldberg on her behalf account talk show in 1992 (see video below due to 'Carrie'... A Fan's Site). Stephen King, Talking with Whoopi Goldberg, In regards to the 'Carrie' Sneak Preview (1992) 17. Hunger Games Character Posters: Profiles in Kiddie Courage
The Hunger Games preys on the box office in March, but in the meantime eight of the battledome-savvy characters are squaring off in new posters for the film. Jennifer Lawrence looks fetching under a golden haze, Lenny Kravitz looks a lot like Lenny Kravitz, and Josh Hutcherson keeps looking younger and younger. Seriously, he’s wearing his Bridge to Terabithia face here. Of course, the girl playing Rue (Amandla Stenberg) also played a younger version of Zoe Saldana in Colombiana. Do we think Haymitch looks paunchy enough here? Is Elizabeth Banks tricked out enough? I will not sleep until you answer. Hunger Games’ character profiles [ONTD]

With 'Stronger,' Clarkson Finally at Ease
LOS ANGELES (AP) It may have taken some time, but Kelly Clarkson seems to finally be releasing an album without any drama on the side."Everything is good, everything is happy," she said, laughing brightly during a recent interview to promote "Stronger," released this week. It's a different scenario than her last two albums: She went through public disputes with legendary executive and mogul Clive Davis over her third album and with OneRepublic singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder after her last album was released. They were typical of the bold stances she's taken that proved her to be more than the passive, malleable product of a hit TV competition, establishing her as an artist instead of just a voice."I've been a fighter since I started walking," she said, adding casually and genuinely a line that could be lifted from one of her inspirational songs: "We get one life. You want to make sure that you're living it how you want to live it."Since Clarkson became the first "American Idol" a decade ago, she's established herself as one of pop's most formidable, and successful singers. She's sold over 20 million albums worldwide and landed seven singles in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, including "Breakaway," ''My Life Would Suck Without You," "Miss Independent," and perhaps her biggest hit, "Since U Been Gone."Clarkson has maintained creative control of her music and career since her "Idol" days, and has written on all of her albums. But her determination to chart her own course has not come without a few battles. In 2007, Davis became concerned over the less commercial sound of Clarkson's third album, "My December," which Clarkson revealed publicly after rumors of a rift; Clarkson later mended fences and called the tension overblown. Then in 2009, Clarkson called out Tedder for musical similarities between "Already Gone," which he wrote for Clarkson, and Beyonce's "Halo," which he also wrote.Clarkson calls her new collection of 13 songs "the easiest record that I've made with my label." But she makes clear that's because the suits bent to her will not the other way around."I think people project on you like the formula that has worked in the past. And then they get to know you," she said. "(Now) they know me better as an artist, they know me better as a person. They know what I'm going to do and what I don't like, and it just really works."Sonically, "Stronger" doesn't tinker much with the formula that has helped Clarkson become the top-selling "Idol" artist ever, blending clean pop-guitar riffs with contemporary dance synths. But there is an undertone of loneliness and sadness coursing throughout, including some downbeat lyrics co-written by Clarkson herself."Hello, is anybody listening? Won't somebody show me that I'm not alone," she sings on "Hello.""If you look at my whole catalogue, there are far more sadder songs than happy," the Texan acknowledges in her Southern drawl. "But that's only because writing is a form of therapy. So obviously the things that you're getting out are the things that you've been going through and struggling with. You want to keep all the happy inside. If I'm going through a hard time, I write it out."In person, Clarkson is bubbly and quick to laugh, sharing that in her time off, she picked up the violin and started learning Italian with Rosetta Stone. "I'm horrible at it so far," she laments lightly. But she never comes close to revealing the subject of "Stronger's" multiple scornful breakup and kiss-off songs. "You don't know a thing about me," she sings on the first single, "Mr. Know It All." And it's true that the 29-year-old retains an enigmatic air, despite her down-to-Earth image.Toby Gad, who co-wrote and produced two songs on "Stronger," had planned on a 10-minute meeting with Clarkson when the two first met, but ended up at a two-hour dinner."She's a very strong survivor, and very organic and very real," he said. "You can connect with her on a very human level."Still, after the dinner and several days of revising lyrics alongside the pop star, he said he doesn't remember if she ever mentioned her own relationships to him. While Clarkson seems to sing almost exclusively about the ups and downs of love, her songs are often deceptively universal. Clarkson says "Mr. Know It All" could apply to her own record label or to the media, and Gad's "The War Is Over" functions as a coda to a romance or to an actual war."That's the underlying theme for her, to vent emotions that we all feel in our relationships," Gad said. And Clarkson will continue to vent as she sees fit."I'm always vocal," she said. "People ask me and I tell them. If I have a problem, I say it. I'm never malicious about it, I just say what happened. And I think a lot of people don't do that. So I think it maybe catches people off guard. But I don't know any other way to be but honest musically or personally. So I guess that just comes through."Copyright 2011 Associated Press. By Ryan Pearson October 26, 2011 Kelly Clarkson PHOTO CREDIT AP Photo/Matt Sayles LOS ANGELES (AP) It may have taken some time, but Kelly Clarkson seems to finally be releasing an album without any drama on the side."Everything is good, everything is happy," she said, laughing brightly during a recent interview to promote "Stronger," released this week. BREAKING: Lindsay Lohan Sent Back to Jail For Violating Her Probation
This just in: Lindsay Lohan was handcuffed in court this morning and escorted back to jail after a judge revoked the actress’s probation for failing to meet her community service requirements. The judge accused Lohan of blowing off her sentence of 360 hours of community service at a women’s center in downtown Los Angeles. According to TMZ, the actress claimed that she did not find her work there “fulfilling.” After not showing up for nine scheduled appointments, the women’s center asked that she not return. The county probation department in turn sent the actress to log community service hours with Red Cross. This morning, the judge determined that the department had no authority make that decision and Lohan’s hours with the Red Cross would not count towards her sentence. Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Holley, defended the actress’s absence from the women’s center by claiming Lohan “had to earn a living to support herself and her family” and her opportunities are in Europe. TMZ reports that the judge responded by saying, “She’s supposed to be an actress, from what I hear.” Lohan’s bail was set at $100,000. The judge told the actress that she must complete 16 hours of community service at the county coroner’s office before her November 2 probation violation hearing to avoid further punishment. Watercooler: Glee Wows Us Once More
Amber Riley Damn, when Glee is nice, it's goooood. Last evening, following the new season's "meh" first couple of excursions, the musical returned its groove having a dazzling hour that dared to build up figures, present amounts that beg to become rewatched, and pull on our heartstrings - all within the same episode. It had been like i was watching the show we fell deeply in love with if this opened last year. Except in those days, there never could have been a lot attention compensated to Brittany, Mike Chang, Emma and Mercedes, who all reached shine alongside regular plot-motorists Rachel and Kurt, not rather than them. Basically built around Mike getting an "Asian F" in chemistry (a b-minus towards the relaxation people), the episode sensibly increased the spotlight also to easily fit in Brittany's Beyonce-inspired bid for senior-class leader, a heartbreaking visit from Emma's ginger root-supremacist parents, and Mercedes' lengthy-past due emergence like a vocal super-energy threat to Rachel's reign as resident leading lady. A lot emotion, a lot juicy stuff for the entire cast. It had been near-perfect. Our only nit to choose is the fact that Santana did not have nearly enough to sing, but even that people can forgive considering the combined awesome from the full-blown Dreamgirls number and also the Rachel-Mercedes Maria-Off. That business only agreed to be divine. Better still, many of these story lines key up a lot of potential drama moving forward, as things will certainly get heated throughout the gang's manufacture of West Side Story, the course election and, obviously, the evolution of Shelby's new show choir. With the much division and competition, we are unsure if New Directions makes it through senior year successfully. But when Glee stays within this fine an application, we'll happily stay with them 'til graduation to discover. What about you? Is Glee getting back in line the very best news you've heard since "Breadstix provides"? Sign up for TV Guide Magazine Today!

Madonna to Cut W.E. in Attempt to Salvage Awards Hopes
So there’s good news and bad news about Madonna’s W.E., whose Venice/Toronto festival coming-out parties made more of a splash for the Material Girl’s attitude toward hydrangeas than for being the type of classy, prestigious filmmaking breakthrough its principals had anticipated. Critics, including Movieline’s own Stephanie Zacharek, were cool toward W.E. at best, with some beating it apart like a glossy piata. That’s the bad news. The good news is that we know what that calls for, especially with Harvey Weinstein at the domestic-distribution reins: Recut! Dueling reports from The Daily Mail and Page Six (grains of salt at the ready, but still) place W.E. squarely in the scissors’ path ahead of its Dec. 9 release. One unnamed “executive” told the Mail, “We see shots of a lot of corridors, so they can go, and other scenes can be trimmed,” while sources talking to Page Six — an outlet historically hardwired with a direct line to Weinstein HQ — were a little more reserved, explaining that negotiations with Madonna over what to cut (some estimates say as much as 10 minutes of footage from the festival version could find the cutting-room floor) are “delicate,” adding diplomatically, “Madonna can make any changes she wants.” We’ll see. She might consider the input of The Guardian’s Xan Brooks, one of W.E. harshest critics who nevertheless today offered five suggestions for salvaging the film before the crucial awards-season push. How about, say, a horror film? Or — my own preference — a Madonna mash-up? Madonna admits that she made the film because she “identifies” with Wallis. Why not drum this home by peppering the tale with her own back catalog? “Who’s That Girl” as Edward catches his first glimpse of Wallis; “Causing a Commotion” when she sparks a constitutional crisis; “Crazy for You” on the wedding day; and the irrepressible “Holiday” for the subsequent honeymoon in Nazi Germany. Winner. In any event, Madonna has a little more than a month before she has to take W.E. back on the fest circuit, with an Oct. 23 date at the BFI London Film Festival. “For God’s sake, I hope it’s over with soon!” she told the Mail’s Baz Bamigboye.
